Richard M. Harrylal is an Associate Attorney at ZKS Law, practicing in the commercial litigation group. He handles various cases involving real estate litigation, collections actions, construction litigation, bankruptcy, and breach of contract disputes. Richard collaborates closely with multiple shareholders, leveraging his expertise to analyze and craft effective legal strategies for our clients.
Richard’s journey to becoming a lawyer was driven by his passion for analytical thinking and writing. Encouraged by his family, who always believed he would excel in the legal profession, Richard pursued a career in law to combine his skills and interests. He enjoys the intellectual challenge of dissecting complex cases, assessing strengths and weaknesses, and constructing robust arguments.
Richard holds a Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, where he was a Senior Associate of the Stetson Business Law Review, a Teaching Assistant for Professor Luz Nagle, and the Secretary of the Stetson Asian American Law Student Association. He also graduated cum laude from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Social Science in Criminal Justice and a Minor in Military Science.
Before joining ZKS Law, Richard developed his expertise across a diverse array of legal settings. He handled numerous insurance defense cases at his previous firm, developing a keen understanding of litigation processes and client representation. His time at the Stetson Veterans Advocacy Clinic allowed him to manage complex veteran disability appeals successfully, and his clerkship roles provided him with a solid foundation in bankruptcy and commercial litigation.
Beyond his legal career, Richard enjoys scuba diving, camping, hiking, golf, and CrossFit. He also has a passion for billiards, a game he grew up playing. As he puts it, “Some people grew up playing soccer, but I grew up playing pool.”
Richard’s fit for ZKS Law is evident in his appreciation for the firm’s mentorship approach and team-oriented environment.
