Matthew G. Petra is part of the firm’s commercial practice group. He is board certified as an expert in real estate law by the Florida Bar. Matthew practices in the firm’s real estate section, handling all aspects of a variety of real estate matters (e.g. acquisition, development, management, and disposition, etc.), including, but not limited to, matters related to multifamily housing, including, but not limited to, affordable housing, student housing, and work force housing, senior living, including, but not limited to, independent living, assisted living, and memory care, residential luxury real estate, new construction, and community associations and development. Matthew’s practice also focuses on commercial lending; he primarily focuses on real estate based financing, but he also represents lenders with respect to asset-based lending and alternative financing arrangements, as well as luxury assets such as yachts and airplanes. Furthermore, he represents tenants and landlords with respect to commercial leases.
Prior to joining ZKS, Matthew’s practice focused on community associations, representing developers of community associations, as well as post-turnover, community associations. He was also heavily engaged in civil litigation, both state and Federal, having litigated cases throughout the state of Florida. His background in litigation also included alternative dispute resolution.
Matthew received his Juris Doctorate at Indiana University, Maurer School of Law, where he was a research fellow and a member of Moot Court, the Elmore Entrepreneurship Law Clinic, and Student Legal Services. Matthew received his undergraduate from Indiana University, Kelley School of Business, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, Real Estate. He also received his Master of Business Administration with a major in Corporate Innovation and minors in Marketing and Finance from Indiana University, Kelley School of Business.
Matthew has received the designation of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch by The Best Lawyers in America© publication. This peer-reviewed award recognizes attorneys who are earlier in their careers for professional excellence in their field.
Matthew is a dual citizen of the United States and the Czech Republic.
