Starting in 1974 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Ronald McDonald House is now in 43 countries and regions. The three houses serving Central Florida have helped families from over 62 countries! The mission of the Ronald McDonald House is simple:
“Provide a home away from home for families with children receiving treatment at hospitals and medical facilities in Central Florida.”
The Ronald McDonald House allows families to stay close to their children during medical crisis, reduce the financial burden of being away from home, and find a network of support from volunteers and other families.
The burden of providing a home away from home cannot be overcome without the help of the community in which these houses serve. For the first quarter of 2018, the ZKS Social Committee has decided to focus its charitable efforts towards the Ronald McDonald Houses of Central Florida. In January, we will host a toiletry drive. In February we will create Valentine’s Day cards for the families staying in the homes. Lastly, in March we will host a meal, serving the brave families who reside at the houses.
ZKS is honored to be able to give back to an organization that gives so much to families who are going through difficult medical circumstances.
