Leading in trusts and estates law

ZKS attorneys Sancha Brennan and Andrew Thompson were featured presenters at the 43rd Annual Attorney/Trust Officer Liaison Conference. Andrew discussed timely topics in trusts and estates law during his session, “A Potpourri of T & E,” while Sancha delivered a Legislative Update highlighting key developments from Florida’s recent session. We’re proud of their continued leadership and dedication to educating fellow professionals.

Supporting the next generation of attorneys

ZKS recently hosted a special evening at the Citrus Club to celebrate our outstanding summer associates, Rachel Crofton, Maxine Malvar, and Amber Melendez. Throughout the summer, they brought fresh insight, professionalism, and a strong work ethic to every task they undertook. Empowering women leaders in law

Kudos to Associate Ava Sigman for expertly moderating the recent ATHENA NextGen judicial panel featuring Judges Denise Kim Beamer, Gisela Laurent, and Elizabeth Gibson. The event highlighted Ava’s leadership and strengthened connections with the local judiciary. ZKS is proud to support ATHENA NextGen and its mission to empower the next generation of women leaders.

Recognized voices in estate planning

Shareholder Sancha Brennan recently spoke at the 43rd Annual Attorney/Trust Officer Liaison Conference, held at The Breakers Palm Beach on August 2, 2025. Hosted by the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar, this prestigious event brought together leading professionals in estate planning, trust law, and fiduciary services. 

Sancha’s session offered attendees valuable insights and practical strategies, reinforcing her role as a thought leader in the field. We’re proud to see Sancha represent ZKS and share her knowledge on such a respected platform.

Preserving the history of the profession

David Brennan serves as Historian for the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar, where he actively preserves and shares the Section’s legacy. In recent months, David presented to the Executive Council twice—once in January and again in May—emphasizing the Section’s history and evolution. His work helps ensure the legal profession moves forward with a strong understanding of its roots.

Addressing mental health in estate planning

Shareholder Laura Sundberg recently appeared on the podcast Head Inside Mental Health to discuss estate planning for beneficiaries with mental health challenges. She shared how tailored trust provisions and the guidance of therapeutic consultants can help trustees provide appropriate care while protecting long-term interests.

Members of our Workers’ Compensation team recently attended the annual WCI (Workers’ Compensation Institute) Conference, where they explored trends and updates in the field and connected with peers across the industry. 

As part of the experience, several ZKS attorneys also volunteered at Give Kids The World Village, supporting a mission that brings joy to critically ill children and their families. ZKS is proud to support causes that strengthen both our legal community and the lives of families in need.
